Abalone and sterling silver.

A lightweight abalone teardrop is bezeled in sterling silver and has a cut out lotus blossom overlay. The teardrop is 1 and 3/8 inches long and 3/4 wide. Total length, including bail, is 1 and 5/8 inches. The ornate bail has a 1/4 inch opening. Back of pendant is black.

Abalone is a natural multi colored mother of pearl that is the shell of a marine mollusk. Each is unique, so color will vary. Abalone was important to the indigenous people of Catalina Island as a source of food, tools, ornaments and trade.
